Founding Partner, Ahrends Burton and Koralek Architects

Paul is one of the three founding Partners (1961) of ABK Architects. Paul was appointed a CBE in 1984 and elected Member of the Royal Academy of Arts in 1986. He is currently Chair of the South East Regional Design Panel and has served on Design Panels for British Rail and Cardiff Bay. He has acted as assessor for numerous competitions including the international design competition for the Cardiff Bay Opera House; the Toyota Headquarters; a site development for Land Securities and the Turner Centre in Margate.

ABK’s principal projects include: The British Embassy in Moscow (2000); the Berkeley Library (1961), Arts Faculty Building (1979, 2002), and Dental Hospital and School (1998) for Trinity College Dublin. Civic Offices for Offaly (2002) and Tipperary (2005) County Councils and Cork City; the John Lewis Department Store, Kingston (1990); Dover Heritage Centre (1992): Techniquest, Cardiff (1995) and a new building for John Wheatley College, Glasgow.
